Product Description
Calcium Chloride (CaCl₂) is widely used as a brine in completion, workover, and packer fluids, as well as in water-based drilling fluids, including those applied in thermal well drilling operations.
Advantages
- Suitable for use in invert emulsion fluid systems, where it is added to the dispersed aqueous phase to balance chemical activity with the formation and minimize osmotic effects.
- Widely used throughout the oilfield.
Applications
- Used in drilling fluids to prepare high-density brines for completion, workover, gravel packing, perforating, and packer fluid applications.
- Due to its divalent ionic charge, it is less commonly applied in reservoir drill-in fluids.
Recommended Treatment
Calcium Chloride is soluble in water up to a density of 11.6 lb/gal.
